My first experience singing lullabies for little ones was during my teen years. I regularly baby-sat a particularly darling little girl, named Katie. Our bedtime routine was to read a few stories, turn off the light, and then I'd sing a song. As soon as I'd finish the first song, she'd immediately say "'nuther". I would sing another and another, trying to remember as many as I could. Eventually, the sweet sounds of "'nuther" after every song grew faint, and finally stopped, which meant I had successfully sung my little charge to sleep.
Just before the birth of my son, William, in November 2005, I collected the words to all of my favorite lullabies, so that I could start memorizing them for him. This album includes many of those songs. They are some of my favorites from when I was a baby, songs I sang to those I baby-sat over the years, and a few gems that I knew many others loved when they were young.
I hope you will enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed making it. May it bring lots of sweet dreams to your little loved-ones!
